Dimanche a Divonne
Sunday in Divonne)
We started the morning bright and early, getting into Geneva to watch Chris play in his basketball tournament. The tournament was between 14 high school teams in Switzerland, mostly between international schools. One team came all the way from Zurich to play. Another from Torino, Italy. The kids are a mix of nationalities, many are in Geneva while their parents are working here for a few years. We met other kids who have one or both parents being American and the family lives in Geneva permanently. Looking at the kids, they dress just like our own kids. The different accents are fun to listen to, though. Chris' team ended up winning the tournament and I believe they will continue on to a more regional tourney.
Ann then took Tammy and I into Divonne, France. Again, it is a stone's throw from Geneva. This market differs from yesterday's in that it featured many local foods and give locals a chance to do grocery shopping. There were chicken and ducks for sale with heads and leags still attached. Alot of local produce, cheeses, dried and candied fruits and nuts. We purchased a roasted chicken, fresh goat cheese, a bagette loaf and white asparagus. The market was held on both sides of the street in Divonne, with little walking room in between the crowds of people. There were also stalls with clothing and Provence style linens.
After going back to watch Chris play his final game, we headed home. The afternoon has been spent in preparing for our trip to Paris tomorrow. Our tentative plan is to hit the Louvre tomorrow pm, as it is closed on Tuesday. On Tuesday, we plan to see the D'Orsey museum, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, The Chapelle museum, stroll the avenues, go to a restaurant recommended by Ann.
