$1000 Curtain

Posted on Nov. 4, 2006 at 07:30 PM in On my Way to India (Subscribe)
So I'm sitting in row 12 of my connection from Vancouver to LAX which is one row behind Business, First, Elite or whatever they call it nowadays and the only thing I am craving right then is an ice cream sundae. The only thing seperating me from a completely different tax bracket was a simple curtain which got me thinking that I am going to a country where class or caste seperation is so evident and prevalent. As soon as you are born, your future is already written in stone and determined for you. I could not imagine living in a society which dictates the course and direction that your life will take but really to a lesser degree, is our culture or society really that much different? I consider it a privlege that I grew up the way I did and I definitely appreciate the way my parents brought me up the way they did. Very few people have the opportunities to enjoy luxuries such as travelling and that is why I take full advantage of journey's such as this.
