After my trip to Taupo I carried on north for a stop in Rotorua.  There is lots of geothermal activity here and it smells, like rotten eggs... I went to have a look at some bubbling pools of mud and water with steam coming off the top, some of them are up to 220 C, pretty hot!  Saw a thing out of the paper about some idiot who decided to paddle in a mud pool somewhere and sustained very bad burns to both feet...  Also went zorbing which was a lot of fun but very short.  I rolled down a zig zag track down a hill inside a big hamster ball with a fair bit of water inside.  Lots of fun, I tried to stand up but I'm sure this is not possible, some people have actually managed to run all the way down!

Now I'm in Auckland, its wierd being in a big city again after all the small towns and national parks I've been to.  I like it though (I like all big cities, mostly anyway).  Went for a walk around the harbour and found the marina which is the biggest one I've ever seen, its huge!  I'm sure there are a lot of boats in there that never see the open sea.

Off to Fiji in a couple of days!
