Itinerary for Giff

Posted on May. 4, 2007 at 12:17 in Europe (Subscribe)

Hey,

Since everybody's been asking, here is my 35 day itinerary:

June 3: Depart Calgary for London (overnight flight)

June 4: Arrive in London, check into hotel and then check out some sights.  Try not to shop too much because it's only the beginning.  Stay focused gifford.

June 5: Depart London (through Kent) to Dover and cross the Channel by ferry to France.  Stay in Paris.

June 6: Paris sightseeing and clubbin'.

June 7: Off to Bordeaux with stops in Tours and Poitiers.

June 8: Surfs up in Biarritz (Spain).  Known for its sandy beaches and sexy surfers, I may just end my tour here!    If I do keep going though, I will land in Pamplona before the day's over and maybe go for a run with the bulls!

June 9: First I'm off to Burgos and then over the Guadarrama Mountains to Madrid.  Everyone's napping at 4 in the afternoon, but things are jumpin' at 4am!!  And since it's a Saturday, I'm sure the entire city of Madrid will be sizzlin'!

June 10: Hopefully a little bit of a sleep-in and then its off to check out Madrid.

June 11: Leave Madrid and after a drive along the Jalon gorges, I land in Barcelona.

June 12: Still in Barcelona for more sight-seeing.  Or should I be truthful and say "shopping".  Barcelona has some super chic boutiques.

June 13: My colleagues back in Canada will be nursing thier Fun Day hangovers, and I will be off to the south of France.  I will hit Cannes and land in Nice by evening.

June 14: It has been a dream of mine for the longest time to go to Nice...so I am truly going to enjoy this day.  I will also head off to Monaco and Monte Carlo and then back to Nice by dinner.

June 15: Off to Italy!!!  YAYYYY!  Traveling along the coast past Genoa and Carrara and stopping in Pisa.  Then its off to Florence for dinner.

June 16: A walking tour through Florence and time for shopping!!!  Can you say 'Italian Leather' baby??

June 17: Off to Orvieto (known for its wine...hellooooo!) and then off to Rome.

June 18: Still in Rome and a chance to see the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, and the Forum.  Then I'll be thirsty.  Due bicchieri di vino, per favore.

June 19: Off to Naples and then a short sea crossing to the incredible Isle of Capri.  Then a cruise to Sorrento to rip 'er up and party till dawn.

June 20: Off to Pompeii and then to Bari where I will board my cruise ship for an overnight crossing to Patras.

June 21: Arrive in the port of Patras and travel to the Corinth Canal and Athens to check out the Parthenon on top of Acropolis.

June 22: Drive to Piraeus and then sail to Mykonos to hang out for the rest of the day.  Late sail to Rhodes.

June 23: Arrive in Rhodes early and then an excursion to Lindos to swim in the beautiful Aegean Sea and live like the locas (aka: no tan lines up top!)

June 24: Arrive in Patmos and then cruise to Kusadasi, Turkey.

June 25: Back to Greece...arrive in Piraeus and then travel to Delphi. Then back to Patras to set sail for an overnight cruise to Ancona.

June 26: Arrive in Ancona and then drive to Venice.  Hopefully a gondola ride with my Aussie girlfriends is just as romantic as being with a boy!

June 27: More Venice.

June 28: Off through the mountains of the Friuli and through the Austrian Lake district.  Travel through the Semmering Pass to Vienna.

June 29: Check out the achitectural wonders of Vienna.

June 30: Off through the Danube Valley to Salzburg.  Later, we continue to Munich.  Mmmm....beer.

July 1: Happy Canada Day!!!  I'm off to the amazing King Ludwig's Castle in Neuschwanstein.  Then off to Liechtenstein and finally to the beautiful lakeside Lucerne.

July 2: Check out the Lion Monument in Lucerne and then maybe work on my yodelling.  (how do you spell yodelling??  oh well...you get it.)

July 3: Along the Rhine Valley to Strasbourg.  Back into Germany to the River Neckar and Heidelberg.  Back to Rhineland (Ludwigshafen) for the night.

July 4: A Rhine Cruise (my mom's favorite part!) which takes us past the Lorelei Rock to Boppard.  Then off to Cologne and travel into Holland to Zaandam.

July 5: Explore Amsterdam and the Amsterdam countryside and drive to the fishing village of Volendam.

July 6: Leaving Amsterdam, we drive past the Dutch windmills and back into France.  At Calais we will take the ferry across the Channel to the White Cliffs of Dover and then back into London.

July 7: It's all over.  Heathrow airport security has to rip me from my grip of something that was previously bolted down and drag me onto the plane back home to Canada.
