Last day in Paris
This isn't going to be a super long entry, but I just wanted to mention that on Tuesday morning, I went to Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and climbed 5 bajillion stairs with my backpack full of stuff. The basilica offers beautiful views of the city and is gorgeous inside as well. After that, I had a scrumptious, piping hot crepe with Nutella. Heaven, I tell you.
The only other things I did before taking the fast train back to Brussels, Liege then Maastricht was go to the Jardin du Luxembourg. It is located in the Latin Quarter, which is famous for having a large student population due to universities in the area. I sprawled out on a bench in front of the Fontaine de l'Observatoire, which is gorgeous. Here is a link to a good picture of it: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dungparis/Paris/photos/fred/paris/img/marcopolo.jpg After spending 2 hours reading T.S. Eliot, napping and people watching, I had to head to the Pasteur Institute for our group field trip. I enjoyed it, but was also tired from carrying my bag around all day and all the weekend's excitement! His tomb is located in the bottom of the institute and was interestingly decorated. It had a lot of symbolism on the walls, from tiled pictures of little rabbits that he used for the rabies vaccine to the sheep he used for the anthrax vaccine.
